Battle Pack: Epic Dawn is almost here! Players who attended the Yu-Gi-Oh!
Championship Series event in Philadelphia this past weekend got a sneak
preview of what’s to come on May 29, but for everyone who wasn’t able
to make it, here are some tips that'll come in handy when you get your
hands on your own Battle Packs.
Don’t Underestimate Your Xyz Monsters!
While it may be tempting to play two monsters and then wait for your next turn to roll around so you can drop a massive Level 8 monster like Dark Magician of Chaos or Superconductor Tyranno, you might want to consider Xyz Summoning with those monsters instead. A lot of stuff can happen in a single opposing turn, and if you aren’t confident in your ability to still have two monsters available when your turn comes around, it’s better to make the most of them while you still have the chance.

Low-ATK, High Impact
While it’s tempting to pack your Deck with nothing but the highest ATK monsters you pull, make sure to reserve some space for low-ATK monsters with really good effects. Cards like Vortex Trooper, Deep Diver, and Mad Reloader, are far more powerful than you might think because they let you trade away cards you don’t need right now for better cards, helping you pull out your best cards.

Play all of your Spells and Traps
You are going to see a lot of Spell and Trap Cards that you’ve probably never played with before in a regular Deck. That doesn’t mean that they aren’t incredibly powerful. Cards like Infected Mail may seem difficult to use, but they’re actually incredibly deadly. Put down a strong defensive monster, and Infected Mail will let you carve up your opponent’s Life Points without leaving yourself open to attack.

That’s all for now, but we’ll have more Battle Pack tips next week to help you make every Duel epic!
