Monolith Soft in coordination with Nintendo have brought to you a Wii exclusive that is a must play. Xenoblade Chronicles
is the RPG of the decade, bringing together a perfect blend of modern
and classic gameplay elements and encasing it in a rich and deep world
with exciting combat.
The story opens with two titans battling. Each one mortally wounds the
other and they die impaled upon each other’s blades. The steel titan
Mechonis gave rise to the Mechons, and Bionis of organic flesh gave
birth to the Homs and Nopon. The Mechon rise up and sweep down upon the
people of Bionis, destroying many of the Hom. A Hom named Duncan wields
the Monado, a mysterious blade that can destroy Mechons with ease. He
succeeds in turning the tide of battle, but loses the use of his right
arm in the process. One year later, Shulk, a mechanically minded youth,
delves into the mystery of the Monado. Together with his friends,
Shulk’s fate becomes entwined with the Monado as the Mechon once again
assault those in Bionis.
Xenoblade Chronicles’ gameplay is insanely fun and deep. From a
traditional experience-point/level-up system to weapons and armor
upgrades, a slotting system with crafting, talent trees, skill/ability
customization, questing, and more, the RPG elements are vast. Also
included is an affection and notoriety system, where your interaction
with other characters affects events, rewards, and enhances combat.
The world of Bionis is huge, with seamless combat and actions executed
in real time based on positioning and mingled with quick-time events.
With a world so large, the ability to warp to any major location and set
the clock on the fly during the 24-hour cycle is a major time saver.
Xenoblade Chronicles has some of the best mechanics and
gameplay that have ever been attempted in an RPG, with a beautiful
soundtrack, intriguing story, and amazing lush world (even on the Wii),
don't miss out on this title.
Hint: Equip your tank with the best defensive gear and HP bonuses and combat will be a breeze. Don't forget to watch your aggro bar!
